" The face value of a digit in a numeral is that digit itself. It is different from its place value".
The face value of a digit in a numeral is that digit itself.
Eg:
The face value of the digit 3 in 2483 is 3 only.
The face value of the digit 8 in 2483 is 8.
The face value of the digit 4 in 2483 is 4.
The face value of the digit 2 in 2483 is 2.
Eg 2:
What is the face value of the digit 7 in 7021?
The place value of a digit is independent of the palce of that digit in the number.
Therefore,
the face value of the digit 7 in 7021 is 7 only.
