Some important points to remember

If a, b, c are any three whole numbers, then

a + b is a whole number

a X b is a whole number

a - b is not always a   whole number

a ÷ b is not always a   whole number

a + b = b + a

a - b ≠ b - a

a ✖ b = b ✖ a

a ÷ b ≠ b ÷ a, if a and b are different.

(a + b) + c = a + (b + c)

(a ✖ b ) X c = a ✖ (b ✖ c)

(a - b) - c ≠ a - (b - c)

(a ÷ b) ÷ c ≠ a ÷ (b ÷ c)

a ✖ (b + c) = a ✖ b + a ✖ c

a ✖ (b- c) = a ✖ b - a ✖ c

a + 0 = 0 + a = a

a ✖ 1 = 1 ✖ a = a

a ✖ 0 = 0 ✖ a  = 0

a  ÷ 1 = a

a  ÷ a = 1, if a  ≠ 0

0 ÷ a = 0, if a  ≠ 0

Division by 0 is not defined.

Dividend = Divisor ✖ Quotient + Remainder
